This is a new trailer and the customer wanted to keep the batteries charged without running the Onan generator for 6+ hours a day. Another concern was to keep more fuel for the toys!
My Solution
A 5kW battery bank (two BattleBorn) with industry leading Saftey technology. The ATC stock 1000w Progressive Dynamics pure sine inverter will provide power to the 3 TV locations.
I installed a Victron Smart Shunt battery monitor which is app based reading only. This is a great device that will give a percentage and AH reading of battery levels. It is critical to program this with the correct battery parameters to get accurate readings.
I was able to fit two 350 watt panels on the roof for a total of 700w to help charge and offset inverter usage. If the antenna was in a different spot I could have fit 1050 watts on the roof (if you’re reading this ATC).
This system as installed will provide all of the battery power 99% of people can use. No need to run the generator for hours to fill up the battery to run the furnace all night!
